OLD VESSELS, NEW RECIPES
A dinner party like no other…
On Friday 20th November 2020, SEAFAIR organised a fantastic online event to raise money for Bridport Refugee Support Campaign.
27 people came together, to join the dinner party, 7 of those told their stories.
SEAFAIR invited participants to choose a special vessel (bowl, plate or other) and make some food they’ve not made before. We ate, chatted, shared our old vessel/new recipe stories.
Afterwards, everyone was asked to draw, create an image of or photograph their plate + food + recipe for a collective zine and all participant received a copy.
Extra copies are still available for sale for £7 with all proceeds going towards the campaign fund. Email seafair.info@gmail.com to find out how to get your copy!
This event was a reference to Syrian and other nationality refugees having to travel and flee from their home countries.
The online dinner party was devised by Sally Lemsford* and hosted and facilitated by Megan Dunford.
Sally and Megan are the co-founders of SEAFAIR.
*During the Ration Challenge 2020, Sally ate the same as a refugee receives for a week. Raising money for the charity Concern Worldwide which helps refugees with emergency food, hygiene kits and life-saving support. Sally said, ‘It was hard enough doing it for one week, very hard to do it with no end in sight. I wanted to do more, understand better and hear stories from refugees first hand’
